Around 16-17 years ago, I found myself reading more
and more women authors. When I stopped to think about
it, I realized that contemporary women writers made
more sense to me than male writers.

How's that for a thoroughly non-objective, biased
standard for buying books? <G>

At least it's kept me from filling my bookshelves so
full that they crash into the basement from
overweight. I buy far more books by women authors
than men, because I think they deserve more of my
limited bookshelf space.

Ursula Le Guin's books have an honored space on my
shelves. Also Bronwyn Wallace's, Barbara
Kingsolver's, Diane Schoemperlen's, and Carol
Shields.' Except for Le Guin, I'm indebted to
bookwoman for these authors, which I might not have
found on my own.
