I've been taping those, as I don't have time to
listen to them now. I was intrigued by the
presence of Jeanette Winterson on the guest
list. I use the word "taping" metaphorically,
because I've been actually been stuffing them
onto my computer's hard drive, but what's the
correct word for that? "Recording" sounds
too generic, and is usually used for audio
only, while "driving" sounds silly.
==LOL, so it does!
You'll enjoy listening to her, LeeAnne....gosh, WHAT a mind she has. She
speaks rapidly in this interview, her mind leaping from this to that and every
one of her connections is totally fascinating.

The list has been very quiet lately, I suspect
because it's summer and hot and everyone's
working two or three jobs or swimming, not
necessarily in that order.
==I hope that's all that it is. Frankly I was surprised at the lack of disc
re Eudora Welty, wished I'd had time to leap in 'cause I think the woman was a
GEM, but maybe disc. about a woman of HER caliber wasn't everyone's cuppa?
Have our tastes changed, perhaps? I know I've sorely missed the mention of
women authors I've never heard of who've written small but powerful stories
published by small but outstanding publishers...
I recently had a thing with a cat which made me seriously wonder what IS the
difference between male and female. The first thing I learned from this list
was to really notice for the first time that there was indeed a difference in
written perceptions... see, that cat in question turned out to be MALE and all
along I'd assumed FEMALE because of her grace and courage and charm and
amazing confidence, so I really had to stop and wonder if there is indeed a true
difference or do we attribute certain behaviors to certain sexes and never mind
that the qualities may be shared by both....
I've still never been able to put into cohesive words the distinctions
between m/f prose....I myself enjoy both male and female authors, haven't seen that
a sexual orientation makes a beanhhill's worth of difference and yet "know"
there IS a difference.
Anybody have any thoughts?

One of these days we ought to make some
new selections for the BDG, but when I last
asked I received only two suggestions, neither
of which were duplicates. I hate to nag so
I kept quiet.

==Oh I SO understand that!!

But if anyone would like to
nominate BDG selections, please let me know.

==LOL, when I have time to READ, I'll certainly share some thoughts on BDG!!
As it is, I'm content with partially "reading" old Anne McAffrey books, old
Star Trek books, some modern Anne Rule EXCELLENT stuff, but I think those are
NOT what we want BDG stuff to be!!
