Sorry: when I hit Reply, I find this went only to Kate; I'm not sure WHAT
site to mail this to properly!

Kate, VERY belatedly --gosh, that's becoming my middle name, the VB
part--it's nice to see you again and hey, congrats on the poem!!!
I hope too that we have May Sarton on our list! She's in my
bathroom-library with Journey of a Solitude--oh, I LIKE her so much. But I still don't
really cozy up to poetry, except occasionally , find that Mary Oliver speaks to me
every time I come across something of hers and really wish I'd pursue some
intelligent study. Perhaps sporadic appreciation is sufficient <g>..
I seem to be off reading anything "intelligent" for a while, am actively
resenting "good books" because they take over my life and I can't get anything
else DONE! The scholar in me is on vacation, I guess but it's getting remarkably
close to a sabbatical's length of time ;-( Fortunately our local library does
this cool thing of stacking a shelf system at our only store with a variety
of paperbacks which are just perfect for bathroom or
help-I-gotta-escape-for-a-while reading.
I wonder how the AUTHORS of those books would feel knowing their creations
are considered <g>.. I listened to a Bill Moyer's Faith and Reason broadcast
today with Janet somebody who said yes, she has to continue writing even though
she questions whether anybody's READING and/or THINKING..
Hmm.

Love,
Helena

Greetings! I feel as though I have come back home. I was a member of this
list
for quite a while--but due to my travel nursing jobs and a computer crash or
two--I
lost you!! I like to have never recalled the name of the group!

I remember you as intelligent but friendly and encouraging!! And hey--guess
what!
I had a poem published! Cool! Must have taken so many years--and then wham!

After that, I quit writing. Strange. Took up soapmaking---did that for 2
years--now
I am so totally into jewelry design.

But I am returning to books--poetry especially--and ack!! I have no book
lists with me--that is when I started looking for you. Good to be back.

BTW--I read Housekeeping years ago--what a fabulous book--the author
descriptions
are more poetry than prose. Even though sad, it was a book of incredible
merit.

So glad to see good friends again!!

Kate Thorn (the travel nurse!)

ps--please tell me y'all have on your wonderful lists The poetry of May
Sarton!
